Carpet pythons feed on birds, small mammals, young wallabies, flying foxes, some reptiles and amphibians.

They are typically found in tropical rainforest woodlands to river courses and gorges including inland deserts. They are mainly arboreal, but can be found on the ground.

The South West subspecies housed at the park is found in the South West, from Geraldton to Eyre, to Kalgoorlie. The Carpet python has the largest distribution of any python in Australia. Their appearance varies greatly in colour and pattern depending on where it’s found in the country. Size also differs greatly according to distribution, from 2m to 4.5m in length.
